AVOXI is a browser-based application that requires a network connection to receive and make phone calls successfully. Therefore, when there are network issues or the internet does not meet the required speed, there can be a 'Connecting...' message on the web phone.
An example of this connection issue can be seen in the following screenshot:
Causes and Troubleshooting Steps
Reasons for the connection issue can vary. However, some common causes are below:
Problem 1: No Internet Connection
- There is an issue with the network or no internet connection.
- Even when a computer is connected to a network via Wi-Fi or any other method, it may not have an internet connection.
- Visiting a website or going to an internet speed test site like https://www.speedtest.net will confirm if there is a connection issue.
Problem 2: Slow Internet
- The internet is not meeting the speed requirement for making and receiving calls.
- When it has been confirmed that a network is connected to the internet, the next step is ensuring the minimum speed requirement is being met.
- An internet speed of at least 80 kbps or .08 Mbps is recommended when using the AVOXI webphone.
- This can also be confirmed by running an internet speed test at https://www.speedtest.net.
Problem 3: - Virtual Private Network (VPN)
- A virtual private network (VPN) is being used to restrict some traffic to or from AVOXI.
- A VPN is often used to create a secure environment but can restrict some connections to the web phone.
- It's possible a particular case will need to be made for AVOXI and can be confirmed by checking with an Admin of the organization's network.
