If calls aren't coming through to your AVOXI number, work through these checks in order — most cases come down to one of the items below.
1. Check the Number Itself
- Confirm the number's status is active, not suspended or still pending activation or porting — a number under Information Required or mid-port won't take live traffic yet.
- Check for any outstanding document requirements on the number, since some countries suspend a number if compliance paperwork is missing.
2. Check Your Call Forwarding Rules
- Make sure the rule is toggled ON and hasn't been temporarily disabled.
- Check the active days and times set on the rule — if it's outside those hours, the call routes elsewhere (or nowhere).
- Make sure none of your active time windows overlap with each other, since conflicting rules can prevent a call from reaching its destination.
- Check the ring/timeout duration before the call moves to the next step — as a rule of thumb, 5 seconds is about one ring, and AVOXI recommends at least 30 seconds.
3. Check the Destination
- If you're forwarding to an extension, team, or queue, confirm that destination is set up correctly and that agents are logged in and set to Available, not paused or on Do Not Disturb.
- If you're forwarding to an external number, remember that leg of the call depends on the external carrier too — the caller may not reach your voicemail the way you'd expect.
4. Check Your SIP Trunk or SIP URI (If Forwarding Externally)
- Confirm your PBX or platform's IP address is on AVOXI's whitelist for the data center you're receiving calls from.
- Check for a codec mismatch between your system and AVOXI.
- If you're using TLS, confirm your certificate is current and correctly loaded.
5. Pull Your Call Logs
Check your call activity/call logs for the number to see whether calls are arriving and failing, or not arriving at all — this tells us (and you) which half of the problem you're dealing with.
