AVOXI Stir/Shaken

STIR/SHAKEN is a security standard designed to reduce the growing numbers of robocalls made to the US & Canadian. The acronym stands for Secure Telephony Identity Revisited (STIR) and Signature-based Handling of Asserted information using toKENs (SHAKEN). Per the FCC, STIR/SHAKEN is a mandated security standard for all calls delivered to recipients in the US & Canada.

First and foremost, AVOXI is compliant with FCC requirements relating to STIR/SHAKEN. If your calls are terminated by AVOXI, there is no action required on your end.* Calls originating from AVOXI are protected from being blocked by downstream carriers as long as they do not violate the CLI mandates.

AVOXI is registered in the FCC's Robocall Mitigation Database and has implemented a Robocall Mitigation Program detailed below. We respond to all traceback requests from the Commission, law enforcement, and the registered traceback consortium and cooperate with such entities in investigating and stopping any illegal robocalls that use our service to originate calls.

AVOXI uses software provided by TransNexus to monitor our outbound voice traffic in real-time to prevent the origination of illegal robocalls. The software provides detailed reporting identifying suspected illegal robocalls and alerts us if we originate any calls where the calling number is invalid, unallocated, on a Do Not Originate list, in the FCC consumer complaint database, or has a poor reputation. We investigate any identified calls to determine if the caller was attempting to originate unlawful robocalls. If we determine that the caller was attempting to originate unlawful robocalls, then we either warn them to stop or terminate their service as appropriate.

AVOXI customers will receive more details regarding the technical requirements of STIR/SHAKEN and our full implementation plan in the near future. Please follow the AVOXI blog for more updates as FCC guidelines around STIR/SHAKEN continue to evolve.  Learn more here!

*Note: Voice service providers (as defined by the FCC) sending calls with NANP CLIs to the US, Canada, and other NANP countries, must be registered in the FCC Robocall Mitigation Database as well. AVOXI is legally required to block calls for those voice service providers not registered.
